The Xavier University-Ateneo de Cagayan Parliamentary Debate Circle, one of the Philippines’ best debate organizations, is a duly recognized debate organization with a reputation in the Mindanao debate arena as well to the Nationals where it has shown consistent leadership in line with debate varsities from the Philippines’ most respected universities. An organization composed of different individuals who have the passion to debate and the willingness to broaden their spectrum of knowledge. Individuals who share the same mission, to “stand and deliver” as it has always been the purpose of its existence as a circle of people and an organization by nature. People who seek for sensibility and excellence in argumentation with proper substantiation. An excellence promised by Ateneans, debaters, and members of this most august circle. A name marked in history and a reputation passed from generations to generations. | | Oct 25, 2009 |

 | Hi Xavier Debate,
My name is EB Saldana, and I am on the tournament staff of the 2011 Yale Inter-Varsity debate tournament (Yale IV). The Yale IV is the largest and most prestigious British Parliamentary style debate tournament in the northeastern United States, and among the highest quality BP tournaments in the world. Conducted according to Worlds style and boasting an exceptional judging pool, the IV is an excellent opportunity for teams to prepare for Worlds. As your school is sending debaters to Manila Worlds, I am writing to encourage you to consider the Yale IV this fall.
Last year we welcomed over 350 debaters from around the world, ensuring a highly competitive field. Past adjudicators have included Will Jones, World Champion of Cork Worlds 2009; Jo Nairn, World Champion of Dublin Worlds 2006; Adam Chilton, Top Speaker of the Oxford and Cambridge IVs 2007 and Worlds Finalist at Koc Worlds 2010; Ian Lising, former chair of Worlds Council; and Alfred "Tuna" Snyder, convener of the 2009 and 2011 US Universities Debate Championships. This year, we are proud to have Grant May, Worlds Semi-Finalist and winner of the Oxford IV 2010, as our Chief Adjudicator, and Sam Block, Chief Adjudicator of Manila Worlds 2011, as one of our Deputy Chief Adjudicators.
This year's Yale IV will be held October 22-23. Registration will take place online, at www.yaledebate.org/iv. The deadline for registration is midnight on Tuesday, October 18. Because your school did not attend the Yale IV last year, you are entitled to a reg break. As a new school from outside North America, your registration fee would be $50 per team. We strive to make the Yale IV as affordable as possible, and may be able to offer you additional discounts if your team is financial need or brings, in any capacity, someone who has previously broken at Worlds as a judge or competitor. As you are a team from far away, we may also be able to reduce your fees on that ground. If you feel that your team is entitled to any of these reductions, please send us a brief email explaining the circumstances.
Additionally, this year, the YDA is pleased to offer debaters and judges at the Yale IV the chance to submit their resumes to the resume book of an asset management firm. Those who choose to participate will have their resumes put on file at this asset management firm, which will use these resumes in their recruitment efforts. This is an excellent opportunity for students interested in financial services to increase their visibility with employers. To participate, please send your resume to anna.moore@yale.edu oryaleiv@gmail.com, or submit in person at the tournament.
We sincerely hope to see you at this year's Yale IV! Please do let us know if there is any other information you would like.
Best, EB Saldana Assistant Convener
